Connecting Your Faith

Faith is a vital part of life for many. And yet, there is still this eerie sense of "taboo" subjects in the Church, which often perpetuate the hurt and pain some Christians are feeling for very real and understandable reasons. My approach to working with folks who are wanting to draw closer to God is to provide a safe and non- judgmental opportunity to openly discuss their struggles in order to be able to reconcile their spiritual relationship, without an overwhelming or paralyzing sense of guilt and embarrassment. I enjoy working with people who are finding themselves deconstructing their faith and navigating the painful beauty of what comes next.

As Austin Channing Brown describes: “I fight ferociously for racial justice. I am a Christian but the kind who likes to cuss. I am also a Christian who is affirming. I believe God stands with the oppressed. If you are not a Christian you are welcome here. There is no religious test at the door.”

Having a therapist who shares similar beliefs can be helpful in being able to feel more relaxed and at ease when discussing the intricate and intimate details of  how your faith is intertwined in your everyday life.
